Julia Douglas is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a master’s degree in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Laurier. In Ontario, Julia provides online therapy to individuals from all walks of life experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, interpersonal conflicts, life transitions, spiritual struggles, existential concerns, and identity difficulties.
To her, the therapeutic relationship itself is a powerful and sacred tool for healing. She believes that authentic human connection, combined with each person’s inherent capacity for growth and transformation, can help heal even the deepest wounds of the soul. Because of this, Julia’s work is grounded in creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your inner world, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward greater wholeness.
In addition, Julia brings experience working with elders who were experiencing grief and loss, meaninglessness, life transitions, and loneliness, as well as with youth through equine-assisted learning, aiming to build various life skills.
Julia takes a Humanistic-Existential approach to care and incorporates symptom reduction techniques that help manage distress, while taking care not to focus so narrowly on symptom relief that deeper existential concerns are overlooked. She also understands the widespread impact of trauma and how past traumatic events can create symptoms such as anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and dissociation.
If you choose to start psychotherapy with Julia, you will be met with compassion, understanding, and acceptance, while being supported in confronting and working through challenges so that you can more fully engage with and embrace your own existence.
